 ll host a vibrant program that encourages the youth of America to:\n\n- Di
 scover the revolutionary spirit that led to the birth of a new nation.\n- 
 Engage in fun-filled activities that celebrate the people and traditions o
 f Virginia.\n- Be inspired by the words\, art and music that celebrate our
  hopes and dreams.\n- Enjoy the fireworks and drone show!\n\nThrough day-l
 ong programming\, VA250 and partners will honor the profound historical si
 gnificance of Fort Monroe and Point Comfort. Known as “[Freedom’s Fort
 ress](https://www.nps.gov/articles/featured_stories_fomr.htm)\,” Fort Mo
 nroe has been a pivotal site in American history\, from the arrival of the
  first enslaved Africans in 1619 to the Civil War’s “Contraband of War
 ” decision\, which set the stage for the Emancipation Proclamation.\n\nT
 he day’s events include family-friendly activities and experiences\, his
 torical tours\, a naturalization ceremony\, and a grand evening program fe
 aturing stirring music\, powerful oratory\, and a spectacular fireworks an
 d drone show. The event is a clarion call to all\, inviting participation 
 throughout the Commonwealth\, with localities encouraged to join in simult
